A Letter to Christians Who Support the Occupy Movement (or any other Leftist cause)

I have lots of Christian friends who hold lots of opposing views on politics and current events.  There is nothing wrong with that.  God gave us free will, the ability to think and reason, and the power to make up our own minds.  Debate is good.  I am concerned, however, with Christians who support any of the "Occupy" movements.   SOME of what these people are demanding may sound reasonable.  Greed is evil; share the wealth; give to the poor.  We should want to help the poor.  But we need to look further than the slogans.

For example, a friend posted the following quote on Facebook, taken from "Occupy Los Angeles"page :"The test of our progress is not whether we add to the abundance of those who have much; it is whether we provide enough to those who have too little".   Great quote, sounds wonderful.  The issue is, though, what God has asked us to do and the example he set for us.   God gave us free will.  He did not compel us in any way to do anything, even to accept the gift of salvation that He offers. He tells us as individuals and as churches to care for the poor and love one another, commands us, even, but never forces or imposes on us.  Do we honestly think He desires us to compel one another?

God loves a cheerful giver. He asks us to give to the point of sacrifice, not force others to do it.  He does not want our gifts if they are grudgingly given.  Who are we to think that compelling others to give as we, ourselves, were commanded to give is pleasing to God?    What this socialist movement wants is to compel people, to force them.   The end result of what they are asking is totalitarianism.  God is not a dictator.    At the same time He asks us to care for those who cannot care for themselves, He admonishes the lazy, indolent, and slothful.  He expects those who are able, to be productive.  This movement is not in line with God's principles.

Look at the people behind these movements.  Educate yourself about this and what is actually happening at these demonstrations.  The Communist and Nazi parties support the movement.  The demonstration areas are full of garbage and filth, rats are prevalent, there are drugs and alcohol, sexual assault and harassment, theft, harassment of business owners and local workers and families.   Should any decent person, let alone a Christian, support this absolute degeneracy?

What Jesus Would Not Do

Last of all, consider this:  The whole "Occupy" movement is rooted in Alinsky tactics and methods; the same Alinsky who dedicated his book "Rules for Radicals" to Lucifer.   Still the side you want to sympathize with?

Pitchforks

Alinsky to Obama
